Japanese Summer Camp—Day 2
25 May 16
2nd Day of Japanese Summer Camp 2016 was held on May 21st, Saturday.
Mr. Kanamori from Japan International Cooperation Center made a Lecture “Japanese Higher Education”. There are now about 70 UAE students studying in Japan. The video featuring their students’ life in Japan is quite interesting. The audience had many questions regarding the living cost, entrance exams, period of studying. etc.
Tea Ceremony Master, Mrs Suzuki taught how to enjoy the ceremony. This time, participants are limited to a small number, so that master could show A-Z of the ceremony in a small tea room. The master explained mind-set and respect for the tea & the guests, as it should be at the tea ceremony.
Soroban–Abacus — is not familiar to Middle East, but it is used in wide area in Asia since ancient time. Ms Hiromi, Soroban instructor, made a very enjoyable class for the first-timers. Participants were surprised how simple and easy this small wooden device can calculate. You only need to use your 2 fingers!
It was a great Summer Camp and the participants enjoyed experiencing Japanese Culture for these 2 days.
Japan Center is grateful for all the effort that lecturers, workshop teachers and helpers made, as well as Maraya Art Center. Thank you for the participants also. Some of them came all the way from Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAQ.
Japan Center will reopen after summer. Japanese Language Course will start in September.
Have a great Summer and see you in September!
