Min Tanaka’s Locus Focus / Keiichiro Shibuya’s Scary Beauty

Sharjah Art Foundation invites you to Min Tanaka’s improvised dance Locus Focus and Keiichiro Shibuya’s android opera Scary Beauty. The performances are part of the ongoing exhibition Inter-Resonance: Inter-Organics, Japanese Performance and Sound Art.

Reacting to the audience and the environment at two different times of day, renowned Japanese dancer Min Tanaka performs improvised dance pieces, creating animated movements that imitate nature.

Scary Beauty

This performance of Scary Beauty, composed by Keiichiro Shibuya, is the Middle East premiere of his android opera. A humanoid robot will conduct the UAE-based National Symphony Orchestra. Previously shown in Japan, Australia and Germany, this operatic piece explores humanity’s fear of being made redundant by artificial intelligence.

The performances are open to the public and free to attend.
