"Starter A1" Course registration open now

Japan Center will start “Starter A1” Course of Japanese Language from March 27th. It is online course using Microsoft Teams.

This course is completely new method of teaching with standardized levels by Japan Foundation throughout the world.

The levels of the JF Standard are not based on what kind of grammar you know, or how many words or kanji you know, but what kind of tasks you can accomplish using Japanese.

This method strengthens your ability of listening and speaking in real Japanese life.

“Starter-A1 Course”

Period: May 22nd to July 17th  for 9 weeks on every Saturday Mornings

Timing : 10:30am to 13:00pm (2 & ½ hours)

Teacher: Yasuko-sensei

Text : Marugoto A1 (Lesson 1 to 9)

Fee : AED 1355 (Fee AED1125 + 2 texts AED 190 + M-Post AED30)

Max Number of students : 12 students

Japan Center’s previous students who complete JAPANESE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE I Student book & Kana Workbook, you are in the right level for this course.

The applicant can check his/her own level with following tasks:

  1. You can read and write Hiragana & Katakana, freely.  You can write simple sentences using Hiragana & Katakana.

  2. You can introduce yourself. (basic)
    Ex. わたしは たなかせんせいの せいとです。どうぞ よろしく。

  3. You can introduce your family. (basic)
    Ex. わたしの かぞくは ちちと ははと おとうとです。

  4. You can tell the time & dates and can count to 100,000.
    Ex. ひるやすみは 12じはんから 1じはんまでです。
    Ex. おとといは もくようびでした。
    You can count different objects using suitable counters.
    Ex. ふたつ、2ほん、2まい
    Also, you can have a basic conversation in the shop.
    Ex. その りんごを みっつください。

  5. You can use basic verbs in present, future, and past tenses
    correctly.
    Ex. あした えいがを みます。
    Ex. ほんやで じしょを かいました。

  6. You can use basic Interrogatives.
    Ex. きょうとは どんな まちですか。

  7. You can use basic adjectives. (minimum of 20 adjectives)
    Ex. これは ゆうめいな おてらです。

  8. You can use basic conjunctions.
    Ex. ときどき かんじが わかりませんが、べんきょうは おもしろいです。
    Ex. べんきょうの あとで せんぱいと じゅうどうを します。
    Ex. あしたは どようびですから、がっこうは 12じまでです。

  9. You have basic knowledge of ‘honourable’ expressions.
    Ex. この おんなのひとは どなたですか。
    Ex. はい、しょうしょう おまちください。
    Ex. いらっしゃい。どうぞ おあがりください。

You don’t have to solve above tasks perfectly, but you should understand the questions.

If you want to start learning not from Zero, but from some knowledge of Japanese conversation, you can join.
