All three terms of Japanese Language Course during 2011-2012 are finished.

There were “Beginner Course” and “Intermediate Course”. Beginner started with more than 10 students with age group from 11 yrs old to young working adults. They study hard enough to keep up their level with high spirit although it is only weekend’s 2 hour course.

Intermediate course was combined with students who have finished Beginner’s two term during this year and last year. Teacher of Intermediate Course speaks mostly in Japanese, so that students pick up the proper pronunciation & expression during classes.

  • Memory of 1st Middle East Film and Comic Con.

Japan Center has attended in the Cultural Section of 1st Middle East Film and Comic Con. which took place on April 20 and 21 at the Dubai International Marine Club. Since many young people start learning Japanese Language with their interests in Manga and Anime, Japan Center also keeps interests in  such pop-culture, too.

Comic Con was with such chaos !! with so many people and with so much information!! We were very happy to get many people’s attention in our tent. In our booth, Japan Center provided “Your Name in Japanese”, “Photo-shooting with Japanese Costumes”, “Origami”,  etc. Many people have enjoyed a glimpse of Japanese Culture during Comic Con.

  • Summer Camp 2012 finished with great success

Japan Center’s  biggest annual event “Summer Camp 2012” has finished with great success.

The third day of camp started with workshop of “Character Bento”—lunch box with Anime Characters. Participants tried to make “Hello Kitty Bento” or “Piccachu Bento”. The teacher is a Japanese Mother who makes such bento every day. She prepared some contents of the Bento, as it usually takes 2 hours to complete nice one. Participants tried to make “Character Face with rice”, “Sausage Flower”, “Potate Snail” and some other contents. They were all impressed to see how one piece of sausage changed into a cute flower.

Calligraphy Master offered workshop of  “Japanese Calligraphy”. He taught Japanese Kanji of  “Moon” and “Dream” . The participants learnt how to make nice stroke with brush.  After while, each participants start their own kanji, which they want to write. Some write’Dragon”, some write “Flwer”, “Love” or “Heaven”. 1 hour & half-class passed so quickly.

Japan Center offers “Summer Camp” every year at different universities. Any university interested in?  Then contact us in February time!  See you next year!!

  • Summer Camp 2012 Started

May 30 was the first day of the “Japanese Summer Camp 2012”.

It started with the greeting by Mrs. Kishida, a director of UAE-Japan Cultural Center at Fine Art & Design Campus in University of Sharjah.

The first lecture “Japan” took place at the auditorium. Ikebana Flower Workshop followed after the short brake in Graphic Design Room, as well as Karate Workshop at the Studio. More than 10 ladies tried Flower Arrangement for the first time.  They struggled to make their flowers look as fine as their teacher’s work. It was a bit difficult to make the mentioned angles and volume. But they enjoyed so much.

Also Karate teacher showed students many different “Kata-positions”. He taught how to do self-defence using opponent power. The participants also tried how to concentrate the power in the center of the body.

This Summer Camp continues until Saturday, June 2nd.
